Hon. Joan Bechtel

Ms. Bechtel has been a member of the Sutter County Board of Supervisors District 4 since 1993. A family law attorney, she has also worked as an elementary schoolteacher and residential property manager. She has extensive community service experience and is currently a member of more than 15 committees and organizations including California State Association of Counties, the Housing Authority Commission, and the Jail Task Force to name a few.

She received the Yuba-Sutter Chamber of Commerce Athena Award in 1996 and the Business Professional Woman, Woman of Achievement Award in 1989. Ms. Bechtel received her Juris Doctor from McGeorge School of Law at the University of the Pacific in Sacramento and a bachelor's in education from the University of Arizona in Tucson.
