Yvonne Esperanza Campos

Assistant United States Attorney

Ms. Campos has served as an Assistant United States Attorney with the Southern District of California in San Diego since October 1995. She prosecutes federal drug and immigration law violators. Previously she was with the Office of the Attorney General, U.S. Department of Justice, in Washington D.C., as a White House Fellow and assistant to Attorney General Janet Reno. From January 1993 to August 1994 she was an associate with the Real Estate Resources Group of Brobeck, Phleger & Harrison in San Diego, representing developers in the acquisition, disposition, financing, leasing, and development of real property. From October 1989 to December 1992, while an associate with Morrison & Forester in Los Angeles she counseled clients on real estate finance, federal and state environmental compliance, including permitting, and regulatory development as well as criminal defense and appellate litigation. Between November 1988 and September 1989 she was a Legislative Assistant to State Senator Gary K. Hart in Sacramento.

Admitted to practice in all California courts, Ms. Campos is a member of the State Bar of California (since 1988), the United States Supreme Court, the United States Court of Appeals Ninth Circuit, the United States District Court, Central and Southern Districts of California. She is involved in many community organizations including California Rural Legal Assistance, Inc., California Common Cause, the Lawyers Club of San Diego, San Diego La Raza Lawyers Association, and Latino Lawyers Association of Los Angeles. She received her J.D. from Harvard Law School in June 1988 and A.B. from Stanford University in June 1985.
