Robert T. Doyle
Robert Doyle, a native Californian, holds a bachelor's degree in criminal administration from Sonoma State University. He served in the United States Army from 1966 to 1969 in California, Oklahoma. Germany, and Vietnam.
In November 1969, Mr. Doyle began his career with the Marin County Sheriff's Office as a courtroom bailiff. On March 30, 1996, he was appointed Sheriff after serving as Undersheriff since December 1988. Sheriff Doyle ran unopposed and was elected to a four-year term. Sheriff Doyle has served in or commanded all units of the Sheriff's Department. One of the major projects he managed was the planning and construction of the new county jail.
Sheriff Doyle serves as President of the Marin County Police Chiefs' Association and was appointed by Governor Wilson to represent state sheriffs on the State Task Force on Court Facilities. He also serves on the Executive Board of the California State Sheriffs' Association and is Chair of the California State Sheriffs' Court Security Committee. Sheriff Doyle is Chair of the Santa Rosa Training Center Law Enforcement Advisory Committee, and a variety of law enforcement committees.
