Gary Freeman

Mr. Freeman has been a member of the Glenn County Board of Supervisors since January 1995. In November 1995 he was appointed by the Governor to represent the California State Association of Counties on the State Job Training Coordinating Council. He has also served on the CSAC Executive Committee, representing rural counties.

Mr. Freeman was previously the Glenn-Tehama District Manager for Pacific Gas and Electric Company. In his 32 years of service with PG&E he served 22 years as manager and for the last 14 years as a Glenn-Tehama District Manager in an area encompassing five counties and was responsible for all aspects of the company's operations. After leaving PG&E, he served as the Executive Director for the Glenn Economic Development Corporation until assuming his elected position on the board of supervisors.

He founded the Glenn County Economic Development Corporation in 1986, has served on the board of directors since its inception, and was its president from 1990 to 1992. In addition he has served on the board of directors of the national Association of Development Organizations for the last ten years, as a member of the Executive Committee for six of those years and as the association's president in 1994. In this capacity he has continued to serve as a strong advocate at the national level for regional economic development in small metropolitan and rural areas.

A native Californian, Mr. Freeman attended California State University, Chico, where he majored in business administration.
