David E. Janssen, Ph.D.

Mr. Janssen is currently the Chief Administrative Officer for Los Angeles County, responsible for providing the Board of Supervisors with objective and professional recommendations on all fiscal and policy matters and directing the county organization in implementing the board's policy decisions. He also monitors and controls countywide expenditures, manages the county's employee relations and compensation system and insurance management programs, analyzes and advocates legislation, and coordinates capital projects, debt management and asset management efforts. His responsibilities include coordination of county space utilization and occupancy countywide emergency preparedness activities, and cost recovery efforts following major emergencies and disasters.
Mr. Janssen previously held positions as Chief Administrative Officer and Assistant Chief Administrative Officer for the County of San Diego, Director for the State Department of General Services, Assistant Secretary for the Agriculture and Services Agency, and Program Analyst for the state Department of Finance. He holds bachelor's (1967), master's (1969), and Ph.D. (1972) degrees in political science from the University of California, Davis.
