Hon. Wayne L. Peterson

The Honorable Wayne L. Peterson is a former Deputy District Attorney for the County of San Diego and Research Attorney for the Fourth District Court of Appeal. He was in private practice for 17 years, where he specialized in Litigation, Real Property and Fire District law. He served on the Alpine School District Board of Trustees from 1972 to 1983, two terms as President of the Board. He was appointed to the Municipal Court by Governor Deukmejian in 1984 and elevated to the Superior Court in 1986.
Judge Peterson is a former Supervising Judge of the Criminal Division of the Superior Court and a Past Presiding Judge of the Appellate Division of the Superior Court. He was Chairman of the Superior Court Master Plan Committee representing the Court's interest in the construction of the Hall of Justice. He is a Past President of California Western School of Law Alumni Association. He is currently the Assistant Presiding Judge of the Superior Court and a member of the Superior Court Executive Committee.
During his 14 years on the bench, Judge Peterson has spent 6 years in the Criminal Division and 8 years in the Civil Division.
Judge Peterson received his Bachelor of Science degree from San Diego State University and his Juris Doctor degree from California Western School of Law.
