§1.04 Separate Property

Separate property of a married person is property acquired at any of the following times or in any of the following ways:

• Before marriage [FC §770(a)(1)];
• During marriage by gift, bequest, devise, or descent [FC §770(a)(2)];
• After separation [FC §771(a)]; or
• After entry of a judgment of legal separation of the parties [FC §772].
  

Except as otherwise provided by statute, neither husband nor wife has any interest in the separate property of the other. [FC §752.]
