§1.05 Review 

1. You may not consult witnesses informally or otherwise investigate the controversy without notice to the parties.

2. You must protect the rights of the parties by raising technical issues such as jurisdiction, venue, statute of limitations, or special consumer defenses when they may apply but are not apparent to the parties.

3. Your local small claims legal advisor deals only with the public, and so does not have to disclose if he or she is acquainted with or related to any party or witness.
