§4.06 Fees and Costs After Transfer

The plaintiff in the small claims action is not required to pay any transmittal, appearance, or filing fee to the transferee court’s clerk unless the plaintiff appears in the transferee court. If the plaintiff appears as a defendant, he or she must pay the filing fee and any other fee required of a defendant in the transferee court. [CCP §116.390(e).]

If the transferee court rules against the plaintiff in the defendant’s action, the court may award to the defendant the costs of the transfer, including attorney fees and filing fees. [CCP §116.390(e).]
