§4.10 No Attachment or Formal Discovery

The prejudgment attachment provisions [CCP §§481.010 et seq] do not apply in small claims actions. [CCP §116.140(b).]

The parties are not permitted to use the pretrial discovery procedures in small claims actions. [CCP §116.310(b).] You may, however, informally question witnesses and otherwise investigate the controversy. [CCP §116.520(c).]
