Distance Learning Course Regarding Rules of Conduct for Mediators
in Court-Connected Mediation Programs for Civil Cases

(California Rules of Court, rules 3.850–3.860)

This 90 minute course is intended to familiarize mediators with minimum standards of conduct that may apply when mediating a case pending in a California court. A mediator who violates the rules of conduct, when applicable, may be admonished, reprimanded, suspended or removed from a court panel or list, or required to complete additional training as a condition of remaining on the panel or list.

The Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC) is an approved provider of Minimum Continuing Legal Education (MCLE). This course on the Rules of Conduct for Mediators in Court-Connected Mediation Programs for Civil Cases qualifies for 1.5 hours of general MCLE self-study credit. To claim MCLE credit, each attorney is responsible for maintaining a record of self-study that includes the course title, provider, credit hours, and date the course was taken. (See Rules of the State Bar of California, rules 2.73(B) and 2.83(A).) The AOC does not maintain a record of persons who complete this course.
