WelcomeA Farewell Message The Task Force on Trial Court Employees has completed its charge to recommend an appropriate system of employment and governance for trial court employees. The Trial Court Employment Protection and Governance Act, which was adopted on September 30, 2000 (Chapter 7 of the Government Code, commencing with Section 71600), implements a local personnel system for court employees consistent with the recommendations of the Task Force on Trial Court Employees. For more information related to the legislation, check the official California Legislative Information web site at http://www.leginfo.ca.gov What's New?What Happens Next? Task Force members and staff of the Administrative Office of the Courts worked with Senator John Burton (D-San Francisco) to draft legislation to implement their recommendations for court employment status. The Trial Court Employment Protection and Governance Act was adopted on September 30, 2000. The new law becomes effective January 1, 2001. The Judicial Council and the Administrative Office of the Courts provided the trial courts with a wide range of training sessions, workshops, and educational updates to assist with the provisions of the new law and new personnel systems. Administrative Office of the Courts staff will continue to provide assistance as the courts transition to the new system.
