Task Force on Trial Court Employees to Meet in Marin County on January 26-28

San Francisco — The Task Force on Trial Court Employees will hold a working and educational session in San Rafael from Tuesday, January 26, through Thursday, January 28, 1999. All meetings are open to the public and include a specific time for public comment by trial court employees and other interested parties.

The January 26 meeting is from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with a public comment period from 10:00 to 10:30 a.m.; interested speakers should arrive 15 minutes before the beginning of the public comment session. The January 27 meeting is from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The January 28 meeting is from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The task force meeting will be located at the Embassy Suites Marin County, 101 McInnis Parkway, San Rafael, California 94903.

The task force is chaired by Justice James A. Ardaiz, Administrative Presiding Justice of the Court of Appeal, Fifth Appellate District (Fresno). Established by the Trial Court Funding Act of 1997, the statewide panel is charged with developing and recommending a personnel structure for trial court employees. Limited seating is available for members of the public.

The task force meeting has the following objectives:

Provide an opportunity for communication through public comment period;
Provide educational information regarding employer-provided retirement benefits;
Review and discuss meet and confer model and outstanding issues;
Discuss a conflict of interest code;
Review, discuss and consider members’ input on the revised model for employment protection system;
Review task force accomplishments and project timeline;
Discuss advisory vote and begin to develop plan; and
Outline interim report content, communication and education strategies.
