Task Force on Trial Court Employees to Meet in Placer County
San Francisco — The Task Force on Trial Court Employees will hold a working
and educational session in Auburn from Wednesday, April 14, through Thursday,
April 15, 1999. All meetings are open to the public and include a
specific time for public comment by trial court employees and other interested
parties.
The April 14 meeting is from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., with a public comment
period from 8:00 to 8:30 a.m.; interested speakers should arrive 15 minutes
before the beginning of the public comment session. The April 15
meeting is from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The task force meeting will
be located at the Holiday Inn, Grass Valley Highway, Auburn, California
95603.
The task force is chaired by Justice James A. Ardaiz, Administrative
Presiding Justice of the Court of Appeal, Fifth Appellate District (Fresno).
Established by the Trial Court Funding Act of 1997, the statewide panel
is charged with developing and recommending a personnel structure for trial
court employees. Limited seating is available for members of the
public.
The task force meeting has the following objectives:

Provide an opportunity for communication through the public comment period;

Finalize definition of court employee for purposes of the interim report;

Revisit employment status options definitions (state, county, court, other)
in relation to models and issues raised at March meeting; reach consensus
on revised definitions;

Review draft interim report and reach agreement on major components;

In relation to retirement benefits:
-
Adopt final language for assumptions/objectives;
-
Discuss revised model and attempt to reach consensus;
-
Identify pertinent transition issues of concern in relation to the three
employment status options (state, court, county); and
-
Provide educational information on other employer-funded benefits (other
than deferred compensation and accrued leave).
