Task Force on Trial Court Employees to Meet in Newark

San Francisco — The Task Force on Trial Court Employees will hold a working and educational session in Newark on Tuesday, May 18 and Wednesday, May 19, 1999. All meetings are open to the public and include a specific time for public comment by trial court employees and other interested parties.

The May 18 meeting is from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with a public comment period from 10:00 to 10:30 a.m.; interested speakers should arrive 15 minutes before the beginning of the public comment session. The May 19 meeting is from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The task force meeting will be located at the Newark/Fremont Hilton, 39900 Balentine Drive, Newark. Limited seating is available.

Established by the Trial Court Funding Act of 1997, the statewide panel is charged with developing and recommending a personnel structure for trial court employees. The task force is chaired by Justice James A. Ardaiz, Administrative Presiding Justice of the Court of Appeal, Fifth Appellate District (Fresno).

The task force meeting has the following objectives:

Provide an opportunity for communication with a public comment period

In relation to group insurance, accrued leave, deferred compensation, and other employer-funded benefits:

- Provide educational information regarding general concerns and legal
issues

- Review draft assumptions, objectives, and models and reach agreement
wherever possible

In relation to advisory vote and public entity poll:

        - Review educational materials
        - Review draft questions
        - Reach agreement on major components

In relation to transition issues:

- Review draft assumptions, objectives, and model and reach agreement wherever
possible.
